BOOK REVIEW: OVERCOMING STRESS BY DR CHRISTAN SCHRINER

 BOOK BLURB:

This book is about positive ideas, healthy attitudes and feeling good. It is about bouncing back to life and not letting everyday tensions, emotional upsets or stressful situations dent your cheerful nature and sunny disposition. The author, Dr. Christian Schriner, a practicing physiotherapist and an expert in stress management, discusses how you can handle and overcome stress as it happens. Anxiety, frustration and tension often result from our struggling to achieve something positive or resisting the negative, or tensely trying to resolve multiple problems. Based on years of experience, the author shares some of the most effective and successful techniques of rapidly releasing tension and emotional stress: ways of 'letting go'. All of us have the ability to let go. The book explains how to and how you can. The methods fall under three categories: Relaxers, Distractors and Releasers. All are designed to be effective within 3 minutes or so, and not to interfere with your motivation or energy levels. They will make you feel both relaxed and alert at the same time. With these accelerated stress busters, you can feel good, have fun and go dancing with your mind, rather than fighting with it.

BOOK REVIEW:

Everyday problems are so vast and complex that we need ways of making it easier to deal with them and this book suggest ways to deal with stress, anxiety and frustration. Whether we accept it or not, most of us want to change the unalterable past and to guarantee results in unpredictable future. We want to have absolute security and we imagine that if we try hard enough (make ourselves tense enough) we will get that security.  Our minds contain countless impulses directing us to do what's impossible. But we need to release this useless illusion to open the doorway to freedom. This book provides accelerated stress reduction techniques, tools with uses and limitations. I am going to share some of them here so that our readers can take help of them. The techniques includes simple positive affirmations, self-acceptance, learning the art of letting go, attention shifting, knowing your special assets and the most important is spiritual reconnection.

A lot of useless distress results from tensely trying to make every situation turn out right. But we need to realise that these patterns and these habits are destructive. We must drop some self-destructive habits and enrich our life. Author through his writing provides pattern, a kind of mental choreography for coping with tensions.

Author highlights the importance of spiritual reconnection and he believes that to connect with something greater than our own small selves helps us live our lives in trust instead of anxious trepidation. And I can't agree with him anymore. Also author emphasizes on learning the art of letting go plus positive action.

And always remember- Its better to dance with the mind, than to fight with it : )
