BOOK REVIEW:

Legends over generation is an interesting book where one can explore several fascinating facts about the legends. The legends from the 18th to 21st over different generation has been covered. Ashraf Haggag maintains his fine line narrative about the lives of the legends. The books have been categorized into sections dealing legends from various Fields;

(i) Human Rights Legends
(ii) Science Legends
(iii) Political Legends
(iv) Art & Literature Legends

The timeline followed by the author is intriguing. Legends are important because they help historians piece together the past. This includes how people lived, who was in charge, what was expected of men, what was expected of women, levels of education, what lead to the events etc. When we talk about the society, well, depending upon the context, there could be various ways of looking at it, but for the purpose I would say that the society is more of a power structure and legends made that structure strong. The author is successful in reaching out to the readers with these points. The signature & the selected quotes make this even special. Overall, it's a book that everyone should look forward to reading & learn something from the history of the legends.
